• Hello! My name is Mike Beardslee. My family and I (including my wife, three children, one beagle, and one tuxedo cat) have lived on Unicorn Drive near the Community Center for over 16 years, and during our time here we’ve made many great friends and put down strong roots in our neighborhood. I’m also an avid runner and spend a lot of time on South Riding’s paths and streets, so there’s a good chance we’ve crossed paths.

I currently serve on the South Riding Proprietary Board of Directors and am finishing my first term as Board Secretary. Over the past three years, I’ve worked with fellow Board members and staff on budgets and rising costs, amenities and events, and everyday neighborhood issues such as trees, sidewalks, parking, pools, and landscaping.

Professionally, I’m part of the executive leadership team at Loudoun Water, where I lead technology and cybersecurity programs and oversee major projects, vendors, and budgets. I recently earned an MBA, hold a master’s degree in Geography, and am a certified project manager (PMP). My background in leadership, budgeting, risk management, and strategic planning helps me take a common-sense approach to Board service.

    Goals for serving South Riding:

If elected to another term, I will continue to focus on steady, practical governance. As Board liaison to the Budget and Finance Committee, I support disciplined reserve planning and budgeting and keeping assessments reasonable and predictable while maintaining high service levels. I also support continued investment in amenities and the wide range of community events that make South Riding a great place to live. I believe in fair covenant enforcement that protects community standards without being overly burdensome. My goal is balanced decision-making that protects property values, supports residents, and plans responsibly for the future.

    Relevant South Riding community activities:

I have served on the South Riding Proprietary Board of Directors for the past three years, including my current role as Board Secretary. I’ve focused on thoughtful governance and oversight during my term. This means reviewing proposals and policies carefully, asking practical questions, and helping the Board evaluate options with an emphasis on cost, consistency, and long-term impact. Prior to 2023 I chaired SRP’s Web and Technology Committee for several years.

    Other leadership activities:

I am a Leadership Loudoun graduate (https://www.leadershiploudoun.org/) and serve as a volunteer member and chair for various professional associations and committees.
